Facilities
Synthesis of Innovative Materials: laboratories equipped for the preparation and optimisation of inorganic, micro-, mesoporous and lamellar materials. Synthetic methodologies for the production of sol-gel and hybrid organic/inorganic materials are continuously developed.
Structural Analysis: Powder X-ray diffractometer (XRPD), equipped with a sampling chamber for variable-Temperature (from 273 up to 1873 K) and controlled atmosphere (inert/reactive gas flow or vacuum) measurements, and a single-crystal X-ray diffractometer, collecting data also at low temperatures.
Vibrational spectroscopy: FTIR spectrophotometers for measurements in the spectral range of medium IR, equipped with devices for the collection of transmission and diffuse reflectance spectra at variable temperatures (77-873 K) under controlled atmosphere.
FT-Raman and dispersive Micro-Raman spectrophotometers (equipped with sample holder for measurements in the 123-873 K range).
Electron spectroscopy: UV-VIS-NIR spectrophotometer for both solution and solid state diffuse reflectance measurements. Spectrofluorimeter for the analysis of luminescent materials, life time analysis attachment.
Thermal analysis: instrumentation for TG, DTA, DSC measurements.
Surface area measurements: instrumentation for the determination by physisorption methods of the specific surface area and porosity of materials.
Electron Microscopy: SEM microscope operating at high or low vacuum conditions.
Chemisorption Analysis: TPR/TPD/TPO instrumentation for the study of catalysts at controlled temperatures.
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance: a wide bore 500 MHz SS-NMR spectrometer equipped with triple resonance VT probe (-150 ¸ +150°C) and double resonance MAS-CAT probe for in-situ catalysis and high temperature (450°C) applications.
